These same rules should apply to gay flags and gay posters. It is almost guaranteed that if someone were to put up an “It’s Okay to be White” poster, that person would be guaranteed ISS. You do not see straight white men putting up flags because they “need to be accepted.” This flag brings up a greater issue of divide in our society in which if someone is a straight white male they are set aside for somebody who has a different color skin, a different sex, or a different sexuality. This is not needed yet it is brought up in Knet and by the flag that has been put up.
Not only are they accepting the religion and political views of some students while disregarding others’ beliefs, it also disrupts our education. This makes our school more divided than ever. This does not make our school a safe place.
Yet, our school has decided to parade around beliefs like there is no tomorrow, and they shove it in our face and expect us to put up with it. It is a place made to have students come together and be part of one group, one unity, where your beliefs should not matter. A place free of bias where people can go to get an education and learn more about the world.
